The Best Inkbox Alternative for Custom Pet Tattoos: Wear Your Furry Friend
Competitor details checked October 23, 2026. Inkbox is still in business: inkbox.com is taking orders for ready-made and custom tattoos. Whether you need an alternative depends on what you want. For one ready-made design, Inkbox is a fine choice. For a pet portrait from a photo, or several different designs in one order, such as your pet, their name and a date, the six brands below differ a lot in what you can order and what it costs. JUSTPRESS is a close Inkbox alternative: you upload the photo yourself, Woodcut in our editor turns it into bold tattoo-style strokes in one tap, and one $19 set of 15 spaces holds a portrait, a name and a date.

Ours are semi-permanent tattoos that develop on your skin over 24–48 hours and have a tested wear range of 4–22 days by placement. Sets ship within 2 business days and usually arrive 8–12 days later in the U.S.
At a glance
- Inkbox is open. BIC planned to close it by early 2026; in October 2026 its site is selling, and the privacy policies of Inkbox and temporarytattoos.com list the same company and address, TMI Acquisition LLC in Tucson.
- Custom orders work differently at each brand. Inkbox’s designer lists 50–500 copies of one design, and its semi-permanent option is marked “No minimum”; Temporalis, EasyTatt and InkOMG sell one design per pack, starting at 3–5 copies; JUSTPRESS sells a set of spaces you fill with different designs.
- Photos are where we differ most. Inkbox, temporarytattoos.com and Temporalis ask for black line work without shading or gradients. We also print one solid ink with no gray tones, but you can start from the photo itself: Woodcut in our editor turns it into bold tattoo-style strokes in one tap, and it can share a set with designs from our library.
- Three different custom designs (a pet portrait, a name and a date) cost $25.85 at JUSTPRESS including shipping, and $137.40–$150 at the brands that publish prices, priced at 2 × 2 in each.
- Wear claims aren’t measured the same way. The other brands each give one number; ours is a tested wear range by placement, from 4–7 days on the fingers to 13–22 days on the back.
Is Inkbox still in business?
Yes. Here is what happened, in order:
- December 4, 2025: BIC, which owned Inkbox, said it would wind down Inkbox, Tattly and Rocketbook by the first quarter of 2026 (BIC).
- January 2026: the brothers who founded Inkbox said they were negotiating to buy it back (BetaKit, January 22, 2026).
- July 8, 2026: Inkbox’s privacy policy (updated that day) names TMI Acquisition LLC of Tucson, Arizona as its contact (Inkbox). As of October 23, 2026, the privacy policy of temporarytattoos.com lists the same company and address, 3761 E Technical Dr, Tucson (temporarytattoos.com).
- October 2026: inkbox.com is taking orders, with ready-made designs and a custom tattoo designer.
What do three custom designs cost?
One example, priced the same way at each brand: a pet portrait, the pet’s name and a date, one design each, delivered in the U.S. Each design is priced at 2 × 2 in, a size every brand here lists, in its smallest pack, with shipping added where the order is under the free-shipping threshold.
- JUSTPRESS: three 2 × 2 in designs use 3 spaces each, 9 in all, and fit in one $19 set of 15 spaces; $6.85 shipping. 6 spaces are left for more designs. A 3 × 3 in portrait (3 spaces) with a 3 × 1 in name and a 3 × 1 in date (2 each) fits in the same set. Every size and its spaces are in the temporary tattoo size guide.
- InkOMG: three 2 × 2 in custom designs (other sizes on request) at $45.80 each, 5 pieces of each; free shipping over $28.99.
- Temporalis: three 3-copy packs at 2 × 2 in, $50 each, one design per pack; free shipping over $74 ($75 on its shipping page). *Its pages don’t say whether different custom designs can share one order; this assumes they can. As three separate orders, each pays $14.90 shipping: $194.70.
- EasyTatt: three 2 × 2 in designs at $50 each, 3 prints of each (it can print other sizes); free shipping over $80.
- Inkbox and temporarytattoos.com: not priced here; neither designer showed a clear price for one custom semi-permanent design when we checked.
If you want several copies of one design, for a party or a team, the packs at Temporalis, InkOMG and EasyTatt make more sense; at JUSTPRESS each copy uses its own spaces.
How do the six brands compare?
Each cell is what that brand says on its own pages, checked October 23, 2026; brand names link to the pages we used. Where a brand’s pages give two figures, both are shown. “Not stated” means we didn’t find it there, not that the brand doesn’t offer it.

| Brand | Order to door, custom | What it says about wear | If something goes wrong |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inkbox | 5–7 or 7–10 business days to make (both appear), plus shipping | “1–2 weeks”; elsewhere “7–14 days” | Defects reported within 14 days of delivery: reprint, or refund if a reprint can’t fix it |
| temporary |

| EasyTatt | 12–14 business days to make, then 4–8 business days | “1–2 weeks”; elsewhere “9–15 days before fading away completely” | Doesn’t develop as expected: replaced as store credit plus 10% |
| Temporalis | 4–5 weeks | “1–2 weeks” | Custom: non-returnable once production starts |
| InkOMG | About 2–4 weeks | “1–2 weeks”; elsewhere “up to 2 weeks (or more)” | Doesn’t develop well: free replacement |
| JUSTPRESS | Ships within 2 business days, then usually arrives 8–12 days later (4–7 days by express) | Tested wear range by placement: 4–22 days (when fading usually starts) | Doesn’t develop well, a print problem or doesn’t suit your skin: full refund within 30 days of delivery, no photos or returns |
Why don’t the wear numbers compare?
The wear column looks like a ranking, but it isn’t one, because the numbers measure different things. Inkbox’s own pages give both “1–2 weeks” and “7–14 days”. EasyTatt’s “9–15 days” runs to when it has faded away completely, while most other figures don’t say whether they mean first fading or fully gone. Several brands say results vary by placement, but none of them gives figures by placement.
Ours is a tested wear range by placement, and each range is the days when fading usually starts, not when it’s gone: 4–7 days on the fingers, 7–13 days on the wrist or forearm, 13–22 days on the back. Every placement is in how long temporary tattoos last.
What people who’ve worn them report
Brand claims are one side; customer reviews are the other. A few, quoted as written:
- The color is dark blue more than black. One Inkbox customer on Trustpilot: “They lean dark‑blue rather than pure black, but it’s not a downside in my view” (Trustpilot, September 2025). A Bustle reviewer found that after a day it had “turned a very dark blue — almost black but not quite” (Bustle, 2023). Ours develop the same way, to a blue-black shade, close to tattoo ink.
- Wear varies from person to person. Two Inkbox reviews on the same page: “Mine started fading on day 4” (from a swimmer) and “Mine stayed on for 10 days” (Trustpilot). An EasyTatt customer wrote, “It lasted 1 and a half weeks before it started fading” (ProductReview.com.au). Placement is one likely reason for the spread, which is why our tested wear range is given by placement.
- Custom orders take longer than ready-made ones. Another EasyTatt customer: “delivery is a bit slower for custom designs” (ProductReview.com.au).
Which one should you choose?
- One ready-made design: Inkbox or temporarytattoos.com, from a few dollars each. A $19 set from us only makes sense if you want more than one design.
- Many copies of one design: Temporalis, InkOMG or EasyTatt packs, or Inkbox in larger quantities.
- A pet portrait from a photo: Inkbox’s designer says “Grayscale images with shading will not develop properly on the skin”, and temporarytattoos.com and Temporalis also ask for black line work, so the photo has to be redrawn first. We don’t print gray tones either; the difference is that you upload the photo, Woodcut in our editor turns it into bold strokes in one tap, and the preview shows exactly what prints.
- Several different designs, one of each: JUSTPRESS, as the example above shows.
- Custom delivery times: Inkbox, 5–7 or 7–10 business days to make, plus shipping; temporarytattoos.com, “Ships 5-7 business days from order date”; EasyTatt, 12–14 business days to make plus 4–8 business days in transit, which works out to about 3–4½ weeks (it notes “We print every 7 business days, after collecting a full batch of custom orders”); Temporalis, 4–5 weeks in total; InkOMG, about 2–4 weeks; JUSTPRESS, ships within 2 business days and usually arrives 8–12 days later.
Making your pet’s tattoo at JUSTPRESS

Pick a sharp photo where your pet’s face fills most of the frame, turn your pet’s photo into a temporary tattoo, clear the background, tap Woodcut to turn it into bold tattoo-style strokes and choose a size; faces read best at 3 × 3 in or larger. Add their name as a name tattoo, then finish your set of custom temporary tattoos. Before we print it, we mirror the design so it reads the right way on your skin. It prints in one solid blue-black ink, and the editor’s preview shows exactly what prints.

Prefer a ready-made design? Browse cat tattoos or the tattoo design library; any of them can share a set with your own photo. For choosing the photo itself, see which photo makes a good tattoo, and for memorial ideas, pet memorial tattoos.

Questions people ask
Is Inkbox still in business?
Yes. BIC announced it would close Inkbox in December 2025, but as of October 23, 2026 inkbox.com is taking orders, and its privacy policy names TMI Acquisition LLC.
Can Inkbox print a pet photo with shading?
Not as shading. Its designer says custom semi-permanent tattoos are black line work only and that “Grayscale images with shading will not develop properly on the skin.” A photo has to be turned into line art first. At JUSTPRESS, Woodcut in our editor does that step for you: it turns a photo into bold tattoo-style strokes.
Inkbox or EasyTatt: which lasts longer?
Their claims are close: Inkbox says 1–2 weeks (and 7–14 days elsewhere); EasyTatt says 1–2 weeks and “typically 9–15 days before fading away completely”. Both say results vary; neither gives figures by placement. In the reviews quoted above, fading started anywhere from day 4 to about a week and a half.
Why is my semi-permanent tattoo blue, not black?
This kind of ink develops to a blue-black shade, and it starts faint before it darkens over 24–48 hours. The Inkbox reviews above describe dark blue; Temporalis describes its own as “a deep blue-black”, and InkOMG says the color “can range from blue/green to dark blue-black”.
How long does a custom order take?
From what each brand states: about 3–4½ weeks at EasyTatt, 4–5 weeks at Temporalis, about 2–4 weeks at InkOMG, 5–10 business days to make plus shipping at Inkbox, shipping 5–7 business days from order at temporarytattoos.com, and at JUSTPRESS, dispatch within 2 business days, then usually 8–12 days in the U.S.
Is there a minimum order at JUSTPRESS?
One set is the smallest order: $19 for 15 spaces. It holds as many different designs as fit, one copy each.
How we checked
JUSTPRESS wrote this page, so weigh it accordingly; about JUSTPRESS says who we are. Every competitor price, time, wear claim and policy comes from that brand’s own site, linked above, as it read on October 23, 2026 (we check again within 30 days before this page is updated); we quote their wording where we can and mark anything we didn’t find as “Not stated”. The BIC and BetaKit items were checked against their pages (December 4, 2025 and January 22, 2026), and both privacy policies on October 23, 2026. Customer quotes come from public review pages, checked the same day. We’re not an independent testing lab, so real-world results for any brand, ours included, are worth checking for yourself. We left out brands whose U.S. prices we couldn’t confirm. If something here is out of date, write to support@justpress.shop and we’ll correct it.
