Where each width lies flat
How wide each spot is before the skin starts to curve. A design wider than that wraps around, which is fine on an arm or a wrist if you want it to.

What a size means
It’s the box the design fits in
The design keeps its own proportions inside that box, so a round design at 3 × 3 in is at most 3 in across.
Tall or wide, same spaces
2 × 3 in and 3 × 2 in use the same number of spaces. You can turn a design either way in the editor.
A library design opens at its default size
That’s the smallest size it prints clearly at, not a recommendation. You can choose any bigger one.
